I really enjoyed the preview, but I didn't get too far; I spent a lot of my time just puttering around checking stuff out, so didn't get into any of the PvP battles.
I'm not into PvP at all, and that's where my reservations are. I'd much rather go along, do quests and missions, get together with groups of cool people, ect. If I can do that without PvP, I'll be happy.
It's possible that I might find that I don't mind it, but at the moment, it sounds like a recipe for abuse. People getting mad at "noobs" because they're just trying to get their feet under them (*everyone* has been a noob at some point), or booting people for some imagined slight, ect ect.
If I thought that everyone could be mature and cool, then I'd be all for that aspect.
I think we've all seen enough to know that isn't going to happen. :P And it's too bad, too; I think a lot of great potential players get chased off because people are hostile, rude, and generally unencouraging.
I love the concepts, though, and the look of the world. I played a Ritualist for part of the weekend and loved it (also played a Mesmer primary for the first time, and wondered why I didn't sooner; they rule!). I love that the armor is different for new Factions characters.
So based on what I saw and loved, I'm definately looking forward to the release, but I'm reserving judgment until I really sink my teeth into it. I might be getting the wrong impression of what it's all about, too.

There's hope, and that's pretty much it.
The only thing i was impressed with were the originality of the new PvP styles, but without teamwork, it was a pain. the 12v12 is screaming to be abused if there's too much freedom in the character selection (think of a 12 man MF build ) but I feel it was balanced to the best of A-nets abilities (A/Rt unite! who needs stupid monks anyway)
probably the best thing that can happen to the new PvP areas is for a built-in communication client, since usually just one or two people are together to try to capture something, which will fail miserably, while everyone else is too intent on killing the enemy to capture an undefended mine or outpost.
a 4 man guild would pwn the entire enemy team on a 12v12 because they could communicate, and probably the best thing to prevent the pure chaos that's been going on is easy communication.
Also, i'm impressed how well the new PvP areas worked without monks.
Overall, the factions event was a bit buggy and unrefined, but it is a preview event, afterall, and it will do nothing but get better from this point on, so i'm very happy with it Only problem, it kills my video card with 15 FPS, i need a new one

I really hope the 12 vs 12 Alliance Battles will remain readily available to the casual gamers.
Being able to click enter mission alone and get teamed up with 11 others is very convenient.
I hope it stays that way.

In my experience, the fun was very fun, the boring was very boring.
Maybe it was that the fun part was too fun, which make the boring part felt extra long. (having to wait to play aspend fort and jade quarry was unbearable)
Luxon also seemed to have alot less quest to do... I was able to get 10k faction for Kurzick rather easy, but Luxon was much harder. While it was hard to get anyone to listen in Alliance Battle for Luxon, somehow I was doing much better at Kurzick (hence, even harder to get faction since I can't win many luxon battle while waiting at aspend fort and jade quarry take eons). In the end, I wasn't able to reach Luxon cooperative mission.
All in all, this faction chapter going to need more time to develope, 3 days aren't enough.
AND, I was disappointed in the closing event... those dragons was not impressive.
